Probably better to practice yarn rather than thread so i can see the knots better.
It’s ok, def need more practice keeping tension consistent.
Also doesn’t help that I’m half designing this little guy as i go by cobbling together a couple different patterns
dunno if it's yarn vs thread or just practice, but making the knots def felt easier/smoother by the end of this.
don't know what else I'm going to make once i perfect this though, been kinda obsessed with making an owl and didn't really think of anything else.
maybe some plant hangers.
@Alien_Sunset It looks nice
A relative made this one many years ago. Similar but different, maybe give you some ideas
@lfisk Oh wow! That is glorious!
Yeah, i have a Pinterest board full of macrame owl patterns, there’s a lot of variety!
@Alien_Sunset It's likely to be older than you are
Another old friend had a macrame affair that held maybe a ~20 inch piece of thick glass that you could set plants or whatever on. Made to hook at the ceiling and the glass was 3-4 feet from the floor.
@lfisk Oh, cool!
Yeah, Pat of the inspiration for this new jag is the really cool macrame owl that used to hang in the bathroom when i was growing up. It didn’t survive to when we moved in though and i am trying to recreate it from vague childhood memories.
@Alien_Sunset Sounds like a worthy endeavor. I'll bet you get one that satisfies this itch too
The Ashley Book of Knots (a knot enthusiasts bible) has a decorative section for odds and ends that might stir your interest too

@Alien_Sunset when I was younger my mom and her friends took a free class at the community center and did this far a while making animals and planters and such. I started to do it then. Made lots of stuff but can't do it now. Lol. Fun times
