So, at the risk of sounding like a total dolt, I want to ask for opinions on #SoloRPG/#TTRPG, because I have never done one.
It seems to me to be a #WritingPrompt, but with other tools such as dice, tables, or what have you.
If you have delved into this sort of play, am I in the right area? Or am I missing something? My initial though is that, like any game, you improve with each playthrough.
Any feedback is greatly appreciated.
I suppose my trepidation is due to the first #SoloRPG I ever read being a 30-odd-page document involving dice, tokens, a deck of cards, and #Jenga blocks (which I've never played). I'm certain all I'd have to do would be to forge ahead more than a few times and learn the ropes. But I'm interested in hearing about others' early forays into #journaling #RPGs. #ttrpg
@BeefGriller I love #SoloRPG play. The Wretched and Alone SRD is bleak by design, yet I find it a good tool for reflection and growth. I have a pinned link in my profile to one game I wrote called "Redshirt's Personal Log". Maybe check it out, play a game? I'd love to know what you think.
@BeefGriller Oh, I have seen some of those on itch.io. I don’t feel the need to have a pile of shaky wooden blocks to add randomness and threat to a game.
On the other end of the scale are the rules that fit on a single sheet, a file card, or even a bookmark. Look for #Loner or #cairn or #micro-chapbook, or, well lots of others.
