Thinking about a "real robot" #mecha war RPG (relatively serious, as opposed to over-the-top) and the outcome of battles.
What if the GM is playing a sort of war mini-game, and the outcome of a battle simply shifts the war in a particular way, setting up later battles?
So, GM sets up a map, then defines first battle as (say) a supply line defense, and outcome tells GM what else becomes in danger.
@Kksimons Interesting! Yeah, mecha series usually don't get that nitty gritty. But very useful in other contexts to know what you're fighting for.
@BrentNewhall I’m kiiiinda doing something similar with a BSG-sequel game except the GM chooses one of the PCs resources to endanger - water, fuel, etc. that sets up the conflict.
