so @berserkx33 has made/is making a Kirby rpg that's just entered a playable state. Check it out.

So there's something I kinda wish Western table top RPG book writers could learn from the Japanese ones, and that's their obsession with campaign transcripts. In the Japanese books, half the book is examples of play.
Maybe you don't have to go that far, but a wholly transcribed adventure or an actual play podcast can go a long way to helping teach a player how to play that specific RPG.
Does Pathfinder 2.0 mean somebody will make a Pathfinder to Pathfinder?
Like, is some company gonna come in and make a Pathfinder clone to appeal to all the people jumping ship because of THIS edition change?
Will this form an infinitely repeating spiral of 3.5 D&D grognardry?
@BusterLaser I'd highly recommend Emily Care Boss' Romance Trilogy and Alex Roberts upcoming game, currently called Tension
@BusterLaser Been thinking about this more: based on knowing people that did freeform, it seems mostly social based. Whereas tabletop is objective based.
I kinda wanna make a romance focused table top RPG just because I could see something like shoujo anime love triangle bullshit be very fun and chaotic as something to play.
But also I'd be worried that like whatever I could be make would just inadvertently wind up being a shittier version of Monster Hearts.
And I wonder WHY? Like, is it because the free form forum rpgs have very larger female audiences compared to table top?
Or if text only makes people more easily detach their characters from themselves and the other players than voice chat or in person games?
Coming from free form forum rpgs to table top rpgs, I've noticed how differently sex and romance are treated in the table top space.
Maybe you'll flirt up an NPC but that's about it. Anything between party members is rare. And romance focused RPGs or ones involving sex (in ways that aren't limited to rolling for anal circumference) like Monster Hearts or Hot Guys Making Out are seen as incredible odd.
In free form, romance is a MAJOR genre, even without the possibility of cyber sex.
Hey!
What are your favorite names of character classes and archetypes? What game are they from?
I feel bad that I forget about this.
Yeah, basically made a discord for organizing and running games of Maid RPG

Okay yeah, seems confirmed. I'm straight up gonna have to find a new RP group or start my own. Canceled sessions are outnumbering ones actually played. And it's been an hour without hearing from the GM tonight...
Actually, I'd probably be willing to try about anything that isn't just D&D. So if any of ya'll have an opening in an online campaign, I might be interested.
Okay, i didn't know Evil Hat had a whole Worlds/Adventures section as pay what you want. I guess I'll look over a few of those to see if they're something I'd like to run. And if not, I'm sure they could at least give me ideas.
The GM of the Gundam campaign I'm in asked me if i wanted to GM anything since he wants another game on the side.
And i just got the Savage Worlds and Fate books, so I'm feel like I really should try to GM something soon.
But it's been years since I have GMed and I'm super nervous it. Completely drawing a blank on what do for a campaign.

GMs, do you ever give NAMES to sessions? And if so, if it before or after they're actually played? https://dice.camp/media/V7RjHlPvXDRxovGC7Lk
Some people may have heard me talk about Uncanny Echo earlier. Well, the first Issue is out now--and it's free! Please share liberally and enjoy :)
Every month--via a Patreon that I will launch in January--there will be a new Issue. All of these Issues are tied to either an Uncanny event or the echo of one. Creating a larger meta-narrative as the players work together to create an emergent story that slowly unfurls.

As a GM, if I used the Al Bhed cipher from Final Fantasy X for whenever a foreign language came up in a sci-fi/fantasy game, do you think the players would catch on? It even has phonetics...

@lumpley Oh, just wanna say one of my favorite sessions I ever played was from Apocalypse World. I was playing a benevolent Hardholder, and it was a blast getting to act out her being completely overwhelmed and crushed as everything she worked for and believed in came tumbling down over the course of a night. It was a weird kind of tragic thrill. And I love just how much can HAPPEN in AW with the right GM compared to my sluggish experiences with a lot of other games.
The most interesting upgrade/sort of common build for me in Battle Century G is also what's kind of looked down upon as a boring (but easy to make and super powerful) brawler: The Beast. In terms of flavor, it's supposed to emulate Eva Unit 1's beserker mode. What it actually does is let you ignore two big mechanics of the game. You get enhanced default weapons and thus don't suffer weapon maiming. Your attacks also just ignore Active Defenses entirely by just spending a small amount of Energy.
I'm a One Year War Gundam set Battle Century G campaign. And I'm enjoying it, but it just bee going way too slow for a whole host of factors.
