I'm late to this trend, so I'll try to catch up.
1. Dungeons and Dragons 5e. #RPGaDAY2023 #DnD #5e #DnD5e
2. My aunt, Toni. #RPGaDAY2023
3. Shadow of the Demon Lord. #RPGaDAY2023
4. Shadow of the Demon Lord. #RPGaDAY2023
5. Advanced Dungeons and Dragons (1e) #RPGaDAY2023
6. A game I've never played (a true "never") but I really want to try is Blades in the Dark.
A game that I played before that I never play anymore, and would love to, is the old FASERIP TSR Marvel Super Heroes.
7. "Smartest" can mean different things and is very subjective. I'm not sure I have an answer for this one. #RPGaDAY2023
8. It's probably my Calishite thief, initially inspired by Daryth from Darkwalker on Moonshae, and would eventually grow an obnoxiously big business and criminal empire. #ADnD1e
I also had a pixie thief that started as a follower for my ranger character (from the followers chart). He died and I intended to play him until we got out of the dungeon and I could bring in a new character. We had so much fun with him, we used the Complete Humanoids Handbook to give him levels. #ADnD2e #RPGaDAY2023
I've had these dice for at least 30 years and they've been part of most of my favorite campaigns. The dice themselves have earned names among my playing group. The d20, for example, has been named Trollslayer.
10. Favorite tie-in fiction? This is tough because I'm excluding licensed RPGs like The Expanse.
I really enjoyed R.A. Salvatore's Homeland from the Dark Elf Trilogy when it was released. It even inspired a campaign.
11. Weirdest game? Like "smart," weird can be broadly defined. I struggle with this one because I think it varies on the individual session or campaign. I think play can get enjoyably weird when someone tries to use a system in a manner it wasn't necessarily designed for in a creative way.
13. I have several but I'll share my most recent. I was playing a 3rd level diviner in Adventurers League Tomb of Annihilation. I was by far the lowest level character and the entire party was knocked unconscious by frost giants except me. A few well-timed portents allowed my character to hold them off long enough to get the others back up. I was trash talking to the giants the whole time. A frost giant then hit me with a critical and killed me outright. At least I saved the party. #RPGaDAY2023
14. I've never been to a gaming convention.
15. As I've said, I've never been to a gaming convention. That said, I believe Tomb of Horrors was originally a convention module. I've played it twice and loved it both times.
16. This is easy for me. The original (and 2nd ed) FASERIP Marvel Super Heroes RPG. I used to own most of the game material and gave it away. I definitely regret it.
17. Fiasco. A session set in Oz. It was glorious.
18. Favorite game system. Either D&D 3.5e or AD&D 2e. I'll lean 3.5 because our version of 2e has a couple of prominent home rules.
19. Favorite published adventure.
G1-2-3: Against the Giants. Nostalgia may influence this pick, but it's the first published adventure I ever purchased (unless you count The Keep on the Borderlands from the boxed set). It had a reason for you to be there, the connections made sense (as much as any module), and it led to an even bigger campaign.
If I have to pick a true single module, it's L2: The Assassin's Knot. Our DM pulled off the murder mystery really well. #RPGaDAY2023 #ADnD
20. Still play in 20 years? It's hard to say with some of the potential options in the works, but I'm feel fairly confident to say either AD&D 2e or D&D 3.5.
21. Favorite licensed RPG.
The original/2nd edition FASERIP Marvel Super Heroes by TSR.
22. Best 2nd Hand RPG Purchase.
The Shackled City Adventure Path hardcover book. I had intended to run it out of the original Dragon magazines as originally published. The hardcover provides added content and ties everything together better than the original articles.
23. Coolest looking RPG.
I really like the Blades in the Dark book. It's look, texture, etc., capture the vibe of the game perfectly for me. Or at least what I expect the vibe of the game to be. The game's presentation almost as much as the game itself makes me want to play it.
24. Most complex RPG. I suppose AD&D? The original Twilight 2000? I don't feel like I have a great answer to this question.
25. Unplayed RPG I own.
Blades in the Dark
The Expanse RPG
26. Favorite character sheet.
The original AD&D golden rod character sheet. I'd spend hours at my grandparents making character after character as a kid. I know the character creation process was longer, but I loved it. There was a kind of ritual for me as I filled out all of the various information.
27. Game I want a new edition.
None. I've enjoyed AD&D and 3.5e and 5e. I've enjoyed other games such as FASERIP Marvel and Twilight 2000. I've never wanted a new edition, I've wanted more world building, more ideas for campaigns or role-playing ideas, adventures/modules, etc.
28. Scariest RPG. I don't really have an answer. I've been nervous in all sorts of games, but I don't know if I've ever truly been scared.
