Did anyone here read The Borribles when they were young?

It was an early Urban Fantasy novel and an inspiration behind the New Weird. It made a hike across run-down 1970s London sound like an epic quest through the Misty Mountains

I was wondering what ttrpg system would suit running a Borrible campaign. I think it would need some way of encouraging storytelling & the use of proverbs to define yourself
