#RPGaDAY2023 Day 16: Game I wish I owned. #Traveller, maybe? I think I had one try out of it back in the mid 80. I got as far as multiple deaths while trying to generate a character before deciding that D&D was a better place to be. I suspect that was the wrong decision, especially given all the good things people say about #PiratesOfDrinax.
@FriendlyFiend They quietly dropped dying in character gen back to being forced to leave the service you were in over the years! #TravellerRPG is my forever game.
@cybergoths @FriendlyFiend similar dislike (as a kid) of Traveller back in the day, had the 3 LBB in a box set, super sexy but then opened it up and no pics, just maths ... But Pirates of Drinax.. 30 or so years later totally changed my mind and then I keep coming across so many games inspired by Traveller (e.g. Liminal) ... Feels like I missed out
@Jwmuk @cybergoths you’re definitely right about the lack of art being an offputting factor too. The books looked so great from their covers and so Soviet tractor manual inside.
@FriendlyFiend @Jwmuk My first copy was the Starter Edition box. That had all the iconic William Keith starship pictures and some other art, so I never noticed that.
