Continuing to work on cleaning the garage and finishing random projects. The summer heat has decided to visit #Duluth at last this weekend. Maybe not the best day to be working outside in full sunshine, as it is 87 degrees. So I'm taking a cooling break in the basement.
Perhaps the donning of protective gear and power carving with an angle grinder was ill advised in this weather. I should just set that work-in-progress aside after I cool down and rehydrate. I really do have a lot of chunks of high-character wood that need to be shaped into asymmetrical bowls and vessels tho.
Hot and thirsty again. Ugh.
Guess I'm on a roll. This was a slice across the base/root-tops of a massive old sugar maple downed by a storm. Wild figure and spalting. Weird block to work with but I settled on sculpting it out to be a serving dish, with the peninsular basin as a place where you could put a bowl of dip. Sculpted, sanded, no finish yet.
@Johnnephew for once it’s hotter there than where I now live (NOLA area) - only 87 today. Though it’s still hot when you are wandering around a battleship.
