📚 🌐Lore Everywhere

When I hear questions like this, it reminds me of when folks talk about the main quest and the side quests. It just isn't how I set up my games.

Where is the lore? Everywhere. And hopefully it was in chargen too.

5e has backgrounds, which is a nice place to plug in that lore and connect characters to the world.

1️⃣ 1st Campaign Set-up

Again, I really need to write up some thoughts on setting up one's first game.

I think well wrought one-page-dungeons are the way to go but maybe I'm wrong and I'm leaning on decades of experience to run those.

Thoughts?

💀 🖥️ 🖐️ 👁️ Cyberpunk Vecna

It is always fun to just brainstorm fantastic crap online.

Pretty happy with the line:

The city is bright ivory colored, like a polished femur.

Thoughts on where/how to drop lore, how to prep for one's first game and/or ideas for Cyberpunk Vecna are welcome.

@Judd I find that a problem is that some players can be shy and see questions like these as challenges, as an indicator that they do have "setting mastery". It's a shame. But when these players start understanding the role of the conversation, of the back-and-forth of building the game and the fiction, I conversely find they tend to become more at ease and more comfortable asking questions in return that aren't defensive in nature.

@Judd I saw a similar question recently and the thing that makes me delete my drafts is talking down to people. So many people have problems and questions that just don't apply with the mindset I have for gaming. But whenever I try to explain this it comes of as condescending and rude. How can I help people without talking down to them?
