On the subject of bridging Blue Sky and Mastodon:

Please do not accelerate the entwittification of the Fediverse. At the very least, keep everything opt-in, or our posts will be used for AI content to feed the profit monster.

@Lane that can happen on Fediverse as well and you wouldn't know about it.

Mastodon even has an RSS feed for every account that cannot be disabled so someone could be gobbling up your public posts and they don't even have to follow you.

@BeAware

The admin would have to access it I assume. I'm less worried about AI per se, and more generally about content being monetized without permission.

@Lane that can also happen without your knowledge and no, the admin wouldn't necessarily know either, I don't see how they could. I run my own instance and don't know who could be using my data.

Awakari is a Fedi scraper that sells data. They just happen to be one that follows the accounts of the data they want to sell. However, it's not like anyone has to follow you to see your public posts. If someone wants to use your public posts for monetization, they can.

@BeAware

I still urge caution in bridging to a for-profit service.

@Lane If you're posting it publicly, expect that AI is slurping it up. They don't care about legality. :-(
