This is one of those things that seems so obvious I should have figured this out years ago, but... I never thought of world building from that perspective. It's #ttrpg video but largely applicable to #gamedev in general.

@arzi That's a really cool video. I was wondering where it was going as an alternative but when Carta Marina came on screen is kind of blew me away.

Personally I am a fan of Stonetop which does some of this exact thing but adds additional descriptions for these locations.

Center of the picture shows a map from the ttrpg Stonetop. Locations are illustrated rather than dots on the map, but they are supported by descriptions for each location in the margins.
