Well, crap. I'm reading Justin Alexander's game mastering book, but apparently in chapters I've yet to get to, he erases recently deceased and much loved game designer Jennell Jaquays's contributions to the TTRPG space. And I find out in the article below that Justin previously defending deadnaming her for a while before just removing acknowledgement of her contributions by renaming a technique originally coined in her honor after himself! diyanddragons.blogspot.com/202

diyanddragons.blogspot.comXandering is SlanderingOn January 10, 2024, the game designer Jennell Jaquays died. She was a woman of many accomplishments, who published one of the earliest and ...

@LouAnders I've been reading that... I was gonna recommend it to my friends, but I think now, I'll have to point to it specifically as a book NOT to buy. That particular sin is unforgivable. It's conscious, pre-meditated, planned, given the stuff he's done on his blog.

@LouAnders Regardless of whether someone wants something they invented to be named after them or not, for someone else to come along and put their own name to that invention is, by any reasonable definition, plagiarism. Especially when they use that name in a book manuscript in which they acknowledged the source of the invention in an earlier draft and that acknowledgment is deleted in the final product, leaving no trace of the origin of the idea.

@LouAnders Well, crap. Let's all forget Justin whats-his-name ever existed.

@LouAnders @cstross Yeah… definitely a book I've removed from my wishlist.

@LouAnders
I used to read & follow The Alexandrian and I even watched his first few YouTube videos before I had to stop bc he sounded like such a snide, cynical prick.

Good to know my vibe-sense was attuned to that shit, now I can just disregard his "contributions."

I have been trying to think of a name for a Minecraft dungeon mod I'm developing, and I think I'll name it for her. 💜
