#dnd35 magic item thought: Wand of Invisible Enlarged Magic Missile.
260' range (due to all consequences of the Enlarge Spell feat), two missiles, and if you use it carefully there's a good chance nobody has a clue where the sudden force wounds came from.
In short, a good assassination tool... The primary trick is not being heard activating it (since by pure RAW any spell trigger item requires a word to be spoken). Definitely a highly-regulated spy gadget.
@PTR_K Basically, by RAW a spell trigger item requires a word spoken to activate it. It wouldn't be unreasonable to rule that a wand with Silent Spell metamagic involved would bypass that and be activated purely by waving it the proper way, though.
Notably, this wand already has two metamagic feats involved in its creation: Invisible Spell from Cityscape and Enlarge Spell from the PHB/SRD. Adding Silent Spell would bump the spell level from 2 so far to 3, and thus minimum CL from 3 to 5.
@pteryx Hmm... maybe creative use of a separate silence spell could be useful. Cast in advance on a area right in front of the caster to absorb future spellcasting noises.
Nonexistent, but it would be interesting to have a silence variant which creates a hollow bubble (or wall) of silence which blocks transmission of sound, but not creation of sound.

@PTR_K Not quite nonexistant, now that you mention it! Pathfinder 1e spells tend to be reasonably compatible with 3.5, and it just so happens that this spell exists:

It seems possible to turn that into an oil (the less-famous cousin of the potion, possible to create with the same feat) you could pour onto an object near where you want to cast from.
