Of all the things my son likes to watch, I'm realizing the genre he *loves*, the ones he'll finish and then immediately start over, are "big family" comedies with lots of kids. Cheaper By the Dozen. Yours, Mine and Ours. Daddy Day Camp.

Tell me others he needs to see?

Daddy: "Ugh. Kiddo, stop picking at them and peeling the skin like that. Your toes are really peely. You need to start using Mama's lotion on them."
Kiddo: "Daddy, it's okay to be different."

Check out how @careforthebeast uses macros to do safety in Roll20. It's pretty great. And Google Translate does a pretty good job on Polish to English.

.@infinite_mao, @coilingoracle, and @Maharhar had me on their podcast to talk about the legacy of The Forge, but it's also something of a conversation about arts scenes, if you're interested in that kind of thing.

Just over a week ago I sketched out a set of experimental design constraints for building RPGs entirely out of optional pieces, without any mechanical interlock between the pieces. @PaulCzege took up the challenge and as far as I know has produced the first ruleset! twitter.com/PaulCzege/status/1

Did you see @fuseboy's concept? Make self-contained mechanical subsystems that aren't too long, and groups can mix & match for a custom game experience.

I made one:

(And because it's self-contained, it's fully compatible.)

Not one woman suggested to this (so far?).

Name someone who's only really known for tabletop RPG design but who you're pretty sure would be great at writing fiction.

Anyways, if you're an indie person, come into the forums on itch. They're back ... sort of. I mean, they were never gone, technically, but I'm trying to make them into a thing.

I know I will probably fail, but it's worth a shot.

Ever wonder what advice you might get from a four-year-old player/DM? The redwyrmling was passing out these gems last night and I thought I would share.

Huh. Infinite Past is the most interesting folded game I've done. I'm not sure I can top it. I'll need to think.

Gratitude: a horror game is a storytelling game about trying to please unknowable overlords in an attempt to escape a desolate place.

It's about stealing power you can't control and about learning how sacrifice affects you.

And that’s a good thing.

This is the same for games. If you mentor a new designer, protect them from others calling what they like trash and beware of doing it yourself. Your job is to facilitate their growth into the designer they can become, not a clone of you.

On my regular RPG shopping list is games I might play with my son, and that he might like, and that includes during Zine Quest. So I couldn't resist vis-a-visage (a 2 player, competetive, face swapping ttrpg) kickstarter.com/projects/snaxw

Today's hivemind question: why is my wife's daily multi-vitamin always packaged with a child safety cap, and mine never is?
Are there ingredients in hers that are more toxic if a child were to ingest them than in mine? Which ones?

If anyone wants to try alpha testing RPGHUD, a tool where you use OBS to roll RPG-style dice onto your video feed for playing RPGs via Zoom without a complicated VTT, the instructions are here: danmaruschak.github.io/RPGHUD/
