I guess it makes sense if I swap music for how I am with people I love; great to be around but I’ll get exhausted if I have to be there for more than a short while.
Though, that is only really equivalent if allistic people have to apply effort to enjoy music and it’s never a passive thing. Hmmm maybe that *is* the case? It’d explain why they seem so much better at recognising lyrics?

@Sophie my allistic perspective on musical consumption methods:
passive (a better background noise)
passive enjoyment (background noise you can bop to)
active enjoyment (actually listen to those melodies and chords and musical minutiae)
active enjoyment with lyrics (maybe those cool sounds are actually words... with meaning?)
