With cake-baking marathon over, and a birthday non-celebrated, I skipped shaving, going to eat breakfast at McDonald's, and drive to the coast and let my dog run around on the beach.
Spent a few hours on Oregon's coast, in Seaside. A modest resort town.
It was bustling. Folks getting in beach time while the weather is still good.
Walked my German Shepherd Daphne from one end of the "Promenade" to the other, passing lots of bungalows (many now Air B&B type businesses) and condos.
Daphne cast a wolf shadow.
The beach is a leash-optional zone.
Daphne LOVED romping around, greeting other dogs.
Lewis & Clark's expedition ended up in Seaside, more or less.
Their Newfoundland dog, Seaman, is depicted as looking thoroughly tired, and who can blame him.
Lewis & Clark laid over at Seaside for a while, building an oven to boil seawater into salt for the trip back. A recreation of the facility is just off of the "Promenade."
Seaside's commercial strip.
Gift shops, ice cream and candy stores, bars and restaurants.
