Partner asked about the #GMLess #TTRPG this morning so we had a chat.
We have decided on using #13thAge and using #MiddleEarth as the setting - mid 3rd Age and not sticking rigidly to canon, allowing some more general fantasy elements.
This allows both a system and a setting we both know, to make things easier, especially for my partner who is#Neurodivergent.
We have created characters today and plan to start playing next weekend.
Rather excited about this, we haven’t played together since the start of covid.
@WelshAdventurer Wish you lots of fun! It’s nice to play something together with the significant other.
@SaltyMonk Thanks. We first met through roleplaying so really look forward to us playing again.
@WelshAdventurer Be interesting to hear how they work together.
@TheDreadGazebo I’ll let you know. Not the sort of thing a Tolkien purist would approve of, but, neither of us are.
Partner picked 13th Age as she likes it and enjoyed a campaign we played with it. And as long as she can thirst after Thranduil and Galadriel she’ll be happy.
@TheDreadGazebo @WelshAdventurer I'm interested to hear how this combination works for you and your partner. Will you use icons? Which icons will you select for Middle Earth? #13thAge
@phantom_tim @TheDreadGazebo Yes we have Icons: like Gandalf, Radagast, Elrond, Galadriel, Thranduil etc. Had many years ago ran a short 13th Age Middle Earth and have a list. But Saturday we just picked who we thought would be the icons for our characters. Thinking of using them a bit like patrons in #OneRingRPG Strider mode.
@WelshAdventurer I hope your game goes swimmingly and thanks for sharing your thoughts on GM-less games.
I have been trying to find a way to play a RPG with a cousin and am interested in how folks play with out the GM.
@BrianKolm Thanks.
I’ve been doing #SoloRPG so have the #MythicGMEmulator, which is a table that gives you yes/no answers in place of a GM. There are also tables which give you an adjective and noun phrase, that you use as a prompt for ideas.
Random tables will provde other events/encounters/items etc
I think the #GMLess game will be similar to the #SoloRPG but easier as there will be another player to bounce off.
Thanks for the info. Part of it is that I am shy sharing my SoloRPG hobby.
I have not tried Mythic yet, but I have been using the d6 dice pool method in #FUfreeformuniversal which works for me pretty well. I have also made my own tables or used ones in One Page Solo Engine.
@BrianKolm I need to make some tables for our game, but making them is kind of boring/I’m too lazy.
