Getting a white man who makes six figures to understand the concept of solidarity is fucking hard. Not impossible. But hard.

Dude, you aren't fighting the system if you aren't fighting for the people that our society has written off.

If you aren't fucking fighting for everyone to live and have a good life, you're not part of the fight.

Escape in your mind all you want. Make gestures of defiance. Rail against "the system". None of that shit is going to bring you closer to freedom, real freedom

Jesus (supposedly) said "it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of Heaven."

Freedom requires abandoning your privilege. You have to be willing to be on the same level as every other person. No better, no worse.

And yes, in part we do this by elevating others, but some of the things our privilege gives us access to *require* inequality in order to exist and so they cannot be retained in an equitable world.

That's uncomfortable.

You are no better than anyone else. It doesn't matter what your job is, you are not inherently more valuable than someone flipping burgers at McDonald's or someone sleeping on the street.

You're not better, you're just fucking not, and you will not be able to address the oppression that affects *you* if you aren't able to address the oppression that affects them MORE.
