@Itty53 @venitamathias @mekkaokereke @mmlvx @valthonis As it turns out, Texas is also like that. Houston, San Antonio, El Paso are all blue

@colo_lee @Itty53 @venitamathias @mekkaokereke @mmlvx @valthonis nearly every state without its metropolitan areas would be a red state, except for Alaska, Hawaii, New Hampshire (maybe purple), and Vermont.

@yaygya @colo_lee @Itty53@mstdn.social @venitamathias @mekkaokereke @mmlvx @valthonis uh, you can take New Hampshire off that list. They’re nearly a red state already. And Alaska seems like it would still be at least purple. You can add Massachusetts, every county in the state voted for Biden in 2020

NH is wierd. PERIOD.

It’s purple — but it has taken a shit-ton of gerrymandering to keep it there. Note that the whole federal delegation is blue. The governor’s managed to retain office by being charming as fuck to the clueless, and by having the media in the GOP’s pocket.

The lege… is barely GOP. And that’s after ruthless gerrymandering and ratfuckery.

@bwebster @yaygya @colo_lee @Itty53 @venitamathias @mekkaokereke @mmlvx @valthonis MA is a bit weird in that the main GOP parts are the ones that cosplay as rural, in the outer outer exurbs. The actual rural parts are very liberal. At the same time, I think there are some national lessons to be learned - the "rural cosplayers" tend to be the MAGA base, actual rural voters are not a lost cause at all.

And yes, it’d still be purplish. The Dems hold a slim registration lead over the GOP. But the independents are larger than either.

Ranked choice voting would reveal a very interesting (and different) state, I think.
