So, as a resolution mechanic, would you prefer:

@camckinney is this as in the trait is 10 and you need the sum of the dice to be <10 or the trait is 4 and the success level is how many dice come in under 4?

@glenatron 3d6 added together. Trait range 3 - 17/18.

@camckinney I like the consistency of high stats and high rolls are both good, it feels more satisfying and is easier to communicate easily to new players.

@jamesmullen Conversely, roll under mechanics do a better job of simulating real life growth. You make it harder to increase stats and rolling under them shows your progress and makes success more focused on character ability than luck.

@camckinney This is tough! I generally prefer rolling high, but I like any solution which doesn't require math after the roll.

Btw what does DN stand for? I assume it's some kind of Difficulty rating, but I couldn't come up with a satisfactory term.

@Litis Difficulty Number. Another term for Target Number but I hadn't had enough caffeine to remember TN.
