I think that The Starlost would make an excellent RPG, in part because it already feels like a slightly-off laserdisc / FMV game

Really informative breakdown of how After the War, a kickstarted RPG, ended up with a budget shortfall despite an apparently successful campaign. And good on Jason for making sure everybody (but him, sadly) still got paid above market rate. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/Jagash/after-the-war
Really cool to see Chaosium highlighting some issues with our real-world bestiary by making Runequest's Bestiary PWYW:
Starting to think that the only way to really understand OpenD6 is to have played it when it was Star Wars. Lots of the books seem to assume at least some "a priori knowledge" from one of the earlier D6 games, including the OpenD6 books that West End Games released.
Thinking this system is also an evolutionary dead-end (even though Mini Six and Mythic D6 are good versions of the system, but sadly Mythic D6 doesn't seem to be OGL.
I'm not sure why, but ever since I dumped GURPS from my mind I've been really understanding Basic Roleplaying and Fudge. Maybe I'm just more patient and eager to read through them, but I found myself re-reading Mythras "Classic Fantasy" and it finally clicked what they were doing to simulate D&D-style gameplay.
Why I'm looking at Basic Roleplaying (BRP), (or Why GURPS is necrotic, and how to save what's left) http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/CraigMaloney/~3/L2gAkpmAJDA/ #RolePlayingGames #BasicRoleplaying #Adayinthelife #GURPS
Ever have a system that you've gotten so invested in that you literally feel the need to get rid of it altogether so you can concentrate on other things?
Apparently that's me and GURPS. I finally just compressed all of my PDFs and moved them out so I can honestly feel like I'm not carting around that mental weight anymore.
If you'd like to highlight someone that you're helping, or if you yourself need some help and are OK with making that public please feel free to use #helpafediout to promote ways folks can help you.
2020 is just around the corner and during this holiday season there are a lot of folks right here on the fediverse that are struggling to keep up with day-to-day things.
If someone is making something you like (toots, artwork, music, whatever) and if you have the means please consider heading to someone's profile and see if they have a Patreon or a Liberapay account listed. Even something small every month can help.
Help a Fedi out.
"The creator of indie store itch.io has issued a warning to game developers, as Chooseco appear to be trying to take down anything using the 'choose your own adventure' phrase."
I put out the challenge to anyone to create a "fuck your own adventure" game and just wait for Chooseco to try to take that down.
This might be of interest to a few folks on here:
