While Galegia only has a small population living in an asteroid belt around a dim red star, it is an important world for the Subsector. Located at the intersection of trade between the Dolphin Khanate, the Vargr Exiles (and the Zhodani beyond), and a line of independent human worlds that connect to the spinward edge of the Imperium, Galegia is a center of trade. It is one of the major shipbuilders for the sector, and home base to a number of merchant fleets.
Nominally ruled by a Duke, they are just a figurehead with little real power. True control comes from the small council, a five seat chamber elected by the House of Lords for two year terms. Six major noble families compete for seats on the council, and the ever shifting alliances make local politics bewildering to outsiders.
Despite having little local industry, its merchant consortium can acquire almost any good from even the furthest sectors.
