Three years ago, my partner gave me two sticks which she assured me were dwarf fruit trees. I dutifully planted them, and now indeed have a cherry and a plum tree thriving in containers on an upper-storey balcony. And this year, the plum has fruited! Birds or squirrels took most of the plums quickly, but I still have four which have made it this far and are starting to ripen. It’s great to grow crops up in the air. #Gardening #BalconyGardening #FruitTrees #Plums #UrbanGardening
@fechtbuch Well done on the successful fruiting, and thanks for feeding the birds and squirrels too, healthy fruit for the win!
Tip: My neighbour is happy to share with the local wildlife, but she also puts organza bags over a few of the fruit to keep all creatures great and small away. I saw you have netting up which may be for a similar reason.
@davidcampey That’s a good tip. The netting seems to be working but bagging fruits sounds neater.
