I finally got around to taking some pictures of my old miniatures. I painted these around last half of the nineties, and they have been lying in a box for 25 years until the 11yo found them one and a half year ago. I’ll post close ups of some models below. I really did have a thing for the Blood Angels! Still do, I suppose. This makes me want to start a new collection! #Warhammer40k #wh40k #MiniaturePainting #PaintingWarhammer #Warhammer #oldhammer #BloodAngels
First out, the boss himself. Commander Dante, in metal. I must have spent hours on this guy, but I never really learned any technique from anywhere. No YouTube or citadel videos back then, of course. And I didn’t have a community to learn from. Maybe some tutorials in White Dwarf? Do I remember correctly that shades were called washes, with the old citadel paints?

Next up, the Furioso Dreadnought. Also in metal, this weighs comfortably in the hand. Next to a Redemptor this looks like a cute baby dreadnought though. Again, I see that I spent a lot of time on details, but didn’t know how to use shades, gradients or edge highlights. #Warhammer40k #wh40k #MiniaturePainting #PaintingWarhammer #Warhammer #oldhammer #BloodAngels
Apothecary Corbulo. Only standalone character I bought, together with Dante. #Warhammer40k #wh40k #MiniaturePainting #PaintingWarhammer #Warhammer #oldhammer #BloodAngels
A death company squad and a Predator were the last additions to the army, apart from the squads included in the starter set. The black rage guys are metal bodies with plastic arms, glued with superglue. If you stare at them too hard the arms fall of (again). The Predator is photographed from the only angle where no damage (or at least not much) shows. #Warhammer40k #wh40k #MiniaturePainting #PaintingWarhammer #Warhammer #oldhammer #BloodAngels
Judge me by my size, do you? Just for fun, here’s a few side-by-side comparisons between my old Blood Angels and the 11yo’s Ultramarines (painted by him). #Warhammer40k #wh40k #MiniaturePainting #PaintingWarhammer #Warhammer #oldhammer #BloodAngels #Ultramarines
@hsorlie I took pics of my 1988 blood bowl halflings and dwarves side by side with recent ones and scale creep has been off the scales. (Tried to stick em in but can't find, probably deleted)
@moleverine Do it! Post pictures!
