I think one problem we're facing is that the West has not a single leader in office right now. Like, literally nobody can lead, nobody has courage, nobody has principles, nobody has depth, nobody has enough oomph to make Trump look small.
The tyranny of mediocrity, enforced by neoliberal ethos and aesthetics, multiplied by 50 years, has rendered the entire civilization without anyone worth listening to in a position of power.
That literally happened, because "we" thought it would be funny...
That has struck me, too. There are no leaders, nobody speaking for the working class and especially the left. The Democrats are chasing MAGA voters even harder now. We're basically watching the entire upper echelons of our society bow to fascism with nothing in our power to stop it.

@johnzajac I read that 0.1m troops (x2 for rotation) would be needed as a peace keeping force. A coalition of 18 willing European countries, (excludes Italy & Spain & most middle European countries, but includes Ukraine, Poland, UK, Germany, France etc & Baltic & Nordic countries) could field a peace keeping force of 1.9m regulars + 1.4m reservists = 3.3m. Canada could add 0.6m. Russia has 1.1m + 1.5m = 2.6m. Nearly 4m Coalition v 2.6m Russians. Be bolder Euro leaders. #Ukraine

@johnzajac The species is most likely going down…without some kind of a miracle. Evidence? Billionaires, and wannabes primary activity is scooping wealth instead of addressing urgent issues facing the planet, actually working against efforts to save the planet as a hospitable place for life. #DerDonny is in the power play of our lives doing the same while attacking people at all levels, stripping programs, eradicating safety nets. And we’re mostly spectating instead of acting.
