Over on the bird site Sean McCoy suggested buying a journal and making a megadungeon one room at a time throughout 2023. And I love that idea, so I'm doing it. He tagged it over there so I'm going to use the same tag here.

Day 1. First chunk will have 5 rooms and then starting next week it will be 7 room chunks.

Since it's taking off Sean wrote something a bit more long form about it, if people are interested in taking part in

@loottheroom I know it’s not a very meaningful comment, but… nice pen!

@danieledirubbo thanks! It's a Twsbi Eco and I really like them

@loottheroom I checked it out and it is really beautiful. I’m something of a fountain pen geek: I have several and I love to change pens and ink depending on the season. To say, I just went to the bookstore and bought a new cheap fountain pen.

@loottheroom I've recently gotten really into writing in journals for note taking, even while playing games, and I'll happily take an excuse to get another one.

@loottheroom I love this idea, but I’m not a huge dungeon guy. Need to think of a comparable alternative… 🤔

@ickbat @loottheroom same here! I'd love to think up a similar concept for a drama-oriented game... a town with 365 NPCs? A building with 365 apartments?

@comemartin @loottheroom What if you lean into the 12-and-7 thing a little more? Like, 12 districts with 7 NPCs each?

Or you could also build some history: 4 districts with 7 NPCs, in 3 different time periods (Jan-Apr = 1888; May-Aug = 1988; Sep-Dec = 2088, or something like that).

@ickbat @loottheroom Ok NOW you're talking!
I'm actually writing a novel-in-the-guise-of-a-guidebook that's precisely like that, so turning it into a RPG thingy is totally my vibe!

@loottheroom really nice idea to keep creative juice fresh and flowing.
Will yours have an overarching story/ theme/ bad guy? Or just a collection of interesting encounters?

@harrythegm absolutely no idea at this point, I'm just going to take it one room at a time and allow myself to be surprised

@loottheroom sick. I think I'll do the same. Maybe try some themed levels.
I think I'll need some design goals to keep me motivated - high chance of getting 2 months in and stopping with this for me!

@loottheroom Sounds like a good excersize for the new year. Think I'll start Jan 1 and try to stick with it all year.

@loottheroom A reason to buy a new notebook? Sure thing!

@loottheroom it really is inspiring. Might join this Challenge but instead of a Mega Dungeon I try to get some adventures done. Just one detail of the adventure a day. :)

@loottheroom Now that looks like a ton of fun. :)
