Mathew Colville's "The Forever DM" video is a great piece about selfishness in some bubbles in this hobby, mainly with the "Only play #DnD crowd".
In the remote chance you haven't watched it yet, i highly recommend it.

@pteryx found it. I actually relate with that one comment a lot. Happened to me, and certainly to many others.
While the the Venn diagram between GMs and those really into the hobby is almost a circle, it doesn't need to be. There's no need to read blogs or keep up with news.
The hobby would be much healthier if people sought out GMing more often, like Matt describes being the norm decades ago, and not something arcane that only a select few dedicated freaks are able to accomplish.
