Is 'bisexual legwarmers' a tautology?

They’ve found another mature American chestnut tree that appears to be resistant to the chestnut blight!

This is extremely good news. Until the chestnut blight, chestnut trees were the predominant tree in eastern North America. They hope to breed this one with others.

Much of my current yarn work has to do with being a knitting designer, and sharing that for #yarnuary feels a little too much like self-promotion. So I'm going to #showandtell some older projects (knitting and other things).

Several years ago, my kid wanted a Totoro sweater, so I ordered some Peace Fleece and used a Barbara Walker top down sweater pattern.

I embroidered the Totoros on fabric using chain stitch and then appliquéd them on the sweater.

wait, there would be virtue signalling AND plots involving problem solving through kissing

so I guess nobody from the Pathfinder Society will be interested

half tempted to just put up signs in the FLGS that say "fat queer harridan seeks cucks and SJWs to virtue signal with dice and tumblr feels" since that's exactly what I'd be running

I want to run a reoccurring game next year but I do not have a large enough stable of players, how do I get this thing

These days I find myself energized by well-rounded success stories. Kareem Adbul Jabbar, who's an incredible writer. Geniuses who are there for their kids. The whole emotional maturity enchilada.

while I look for that work/life/elephant-eating balance, it helps me to read that poem and reject it for romanticizing the self-destructive gonzo masculine bullshit of the Artiste

poets.org/poetsorg/poem/so-you

there's "the perfect is the enemy of the good" and then there's this shit

for some of us, all we have is that elephant and a picnic spork and whatever time we can spare in which to eat the carcass we've been given

"if you can't blast your art from your body like a Super Saiyan after a bad bowl of chili, don't do it at all" says the guy who had nothing to do but drink and write

And then I read Bukowski's famous poem on writing and I thought to myself: this is written by someone who has never had to scrub tile grout in his entire life

Day job plus unpacking house plus mental wellness upkeep is making eating-the-elephant seem like an optional boss fight I don't need in order to complete the game.

One of my favorite slogans: "how do you eat and elephant: one bite at a time" is losing its luster in the year of our lord 2017

So it is with games. Adventures can be had if there's nuance, depth of feeling, added significance to player and GM beyond "go to place, hit monster with implement".

Emily Dickinson didn't do much traveling, but holy shit, LOOK AT HER SCOPE. She takes YOU places.

A big problem I have with modern culture is that we discount/belittle the intelligence of people who stay home. That never having traveled more than 5 miles from their village is like having a wasting illness or similar preventable deprivation.
