Any makers here? Need a quick bit of writing knowledge from any craftspeople! What's something a potential customer might say that proves they don't understand your craft, and it's frustrating to hear it all the time?

e.g. For dice makers, it would be hearing someone ask "are they balanced?"

@saikoroparty I know this isn't specific to a particular craft, but it applies to all and it is so frustrating. "Why do you charge so much?"

But also for crochet/knitting: "So you just follow a pattern and make whatever?"

@saikoroparty

How long did it take you to make that?

You want HOW MUCH for that? I could make it myself for a tenth of that.

Did you really make that yourself, or did you buy it from someone else and resell it?

Can you make one just like it in [other color]?

@saikoroparty

I need it in a week.

This applies so much to pottery, that I don't take orders anymore!

@saikoroparty "wow that looks almost as good as what you could buy in a store!"

(Knitting, spinning, weaving, sewing)

@saikoroparty "how long does that take?"

"My grandma used to... "

"Oh I see you're knitting" (when crocheting)

"I learned to crochet once" (when knitting)

@saikoroparty That sounds like a reasonable question for dice makers. You can buy carefully machined dice that are balanced, ones that are as (poorly) balanced as mass market dice, and ones that don't even try and aren't intended for use.

@gravepapaya My knowledge of making is so little it's the only one I could think of, but I posted this question specifically because I know there must be better examples.

@saikoroparty I know for editors, it's "that's not a word."

@Aborigen Eeee, that sounds rough.
