letterboxd.comA ★★★★ review of The Long Goodbye (1973)I love noir detective stories but I also love these neo-noir detective stories where the detective is not some mysterious man, loved by the ladies, but a washed-up relic from another time when you could still pretend that one man could right the wrongs of society. He's miserable and lonely but in a way, he seems to enjoy that. And while he does not do as much detective work as one could expect, you still enjoy watching the plot unfold, the mystery be solved, and simply soak up all the vibes: the single world-weary song that's playing everywhere, the beautiful
