The Poppers (and others) may enjoy this. In his Off The Records blog Bernard (late of this parish, now sadly only on Bluesky) makes the bold claim that Celine Dion's "Think Twice" was the last proper UK Number One single.

And after reading through such a well-researched, well-argued piece of writing, it's quite hard to disagree!

Before the song “Iris” ruined them forever, & turned them into a bloated, overproduced pop band, they were the 2nd coming of The Replacements. They wrote catchy as fuck hard-hitting power pop rock songs, & A Boy Named Goo is the last gasp of the classic Goos, despite the presence of “Name”.
This album is still awesome, & this press sounds great.

This was essentially the band’s Incesticide; a really great collection of B-Sides & rarities that weren’t on Gish or Siamese Dream, but holds up really well as it’s own album.
It’s got some really great songs on it, including that gorgeous cover of “Landslide”.
My friends and I were obsessed with this, still in Siamese heaven, anticipating Mellon Collie.

When I started exploring the Touch And Go label as a kid, Tar were one of the first bands (along with The Jesus Lizard) that I really dug, particularly THIS record.
Sure, Seattle was all fine & good & got all the attention in the #90s , but Chicago gave us an equal amount of awesome shit.
AWESOME record from my youth.
