The #rebirth of the #renaissance - or the renaissance of #modern #man in the light of #artificial/#artistic #intelligence

The essay focuses on the #image of man, #art, #science and #thinking of that #time and attempts to build a #bridge to the #new #age. Based on the #assumption that we are currently also in a kind of “Renaissance”, the aim is to establish links to the era of that #time.

"I lost my glasses, I don't know where I left them. Is it age?"

Age is used here like in other situations jealousy: an umbrella or catalogue of possible reasons we still did not pinpoint as the cause, side effect or symptom.

Forgetfulness, for whatever reason, including organic, stress, theft, Mobbing at work a too eager to tidy flat mate or nesting partner, the tooth fairy, etc.

Circulation problems and/or brain degradation from e. G. Hormonal or organic changes can definitely induce forgetfulness (sometimes reversible, sometimes not). Age itself not really.

Not everybody who ages get forgetful, quite far from that. Still a lot of people do, and instead of saying it inevitable, we can see what can be done about it (medication, community support, etc).

Not bitching, as usual pledging for more precision in the language in order to not normalise this or that idea.

I‘m trying to update the age in the personal settings of a company‘s #instagram account, which was set to the company’s age. Since it’s not full age, the company can’t place any advertisements. Instagram asked me to verify my age by using a passport or driver’s license. All I received was the notification that my age could not be verified and I should try it again in 3 months. Does anyone have similar experience and/or ideas what to do?

I've created my first GUI in Rust. I made a wrapper for #paperage, which is an application for saving encrypted secrets on paper.
I had to tweak paper-age a bit, but now you can use it in the browser using #WASM.
It's still a bit messy, but it should work. And of course, there's #nix support.

You can find it on GitHub here: github.com/renesat/paper-age-g

P.S. Thanks for the idea, @iuvi. You can start testing :computer_explorer:

Continued thread

P.S. We had our children late, and so for us the subtle drag of aging combines with the constant rejuvenating joy of helping two new humans find their way.

It was a blessing that my daughters could see me with my old friends, hear me speak in my mother tongue, see me interact in a way that echoes how I acted and spoke as a young man.

I liked this article about intergenerational friendships. I know for me, I've always preferred to have friends in a range of ages.

One of the ways it works is if you see each other as equals rather than one lording their supposed greater experience over the other.

I approach younger friends as people who know what themselves and what they want. I'm not them, and I don't have more answers. I can only share my experience if that might be helpful, but mostly it's about listening.

But listening is self-beneficial, as well. You can always learn something about yourself by listening to others, no matter what their age.
