@karolherbst I'm definitely intersted in this, have a Razor Core X #eGPU case and a USB4 capable laptop.
Connecting it / switching / the lack of hotplugging is a bit inconvenient. Especially as it's easy to mess up your connection with these short USB-C cables.
Second issue I was experiencing: The #AMD / #ATI driver seems to do a bad job at swapping between VRAM and RAM (GTT usage). As soon as a game/app allocates >8GB on my 6650 XT things get terribly slow with an eGPU. https://www.spinics.net/lists/amd-gfx/msg92185.html
ATi Radeon: Grafiktreiber-Update für 22 Jahre alte Uralt-GPUs - aber nicht von AMD
So this ATI Radeon 9000 Pro card is of the type made by Sapphire for PCs, it seems. It doesn't have the SF-MF switch that Mac firmware sites talk about. Moving the NTSC-PAL switch makes no difference (nor removing the jumper).
I get scrambled video on the PowerMac G4 with the PPC ROM applied, and can't see any obvious way to change this.
Does anyone know what might be needed to change on this card to make it work with the Mac?
Have I ever told you one of my favourite political-actions is to file Freedom of Information/Access To Information requests and then riff on the results? It's good times.
I just got notification that my most recent FOI will be proceeding. It was hung up as the Office determined whether I was worthy of having the fees (~$100) waved. It looks like they might wave them. I'll know shortly and should have a response to my request, or more likely, a request to extend their search time, in the next 30 days.
