Saustrup<p>Many beeps later, it turned out the green pin on the GPU was accidentally bridged with the ground pin next to it. A relatively easy fix. Not pretty by any means, but I managed. Card back in the PC, flux and all, and it was stable as well as displaying the right colors! 🙂 </p><p>It's a bit faster than the <a href="https://mstdn.dk/tags/ATI" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ATI</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.dk/tags/Mach64" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Mach64</span></a> card I had in it before, but by no means super fast. A high quality Quake speed test gave around 72 FPS. I think it was in 640x480.</p><p>Also, I read that the ET6000 has issues with <a href="https://mstdn.dk/tags/ModeX" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ModeX</span></a> - a tweaked version of the standard mode 0x13 that offered a slightly higher resolution of 320x240 pixels in 256 colors with some improvements to addressing, if I'm not mistaken. A few games used this, but also quite a lot of demos of the time.</p><p>Anyway, bottom line: purchased a €160 vintage graphics card for €25 and nearly shot myself in my foot repairing it! Everything worked out in the end though! 🙂</p>

I don't remember the number of the item I was on, (First Court of Appeals, Place 9) when one election worker told another that I would need help. I said aloud that I did not need help, and that, if I did, I could ask for help at that time. Someone said that the machine might "time out" (which is not true - this is a misunderstanding - when a voter is qualified, they get a code to enter into the machine. That code expires after 30 minutes. I'd already entered it). At that point, I very carefully completed my ballot, then took the time to ensure my selections for all ballot items were as I intended. It took me about an hour overall.</p><p>I tried to file an <a href="https://lgbtqia.space/tags/ADA" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ADA</span></a> <a href="https://lgbtqia.space/tags/complaint" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>complaint</span></a>. I asked the election workers for the complaint form. They did not provide it, and did not believe they had such a thing (they are supposed to, I've served as an <a href="https://lgbtqia.space/tags/ElectionJudge" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ElectionJudge</span></a> - there is a stack of them in the same folder as the required ADA information that is to be posted).</p><p>They gave me a phone number to call, and the person taking my report understood me to say the equipment had timed out, so the fix was to replace it. </p><p>The ADA complaint form is also on the website, where I did complete it. I wish I'd had a voter protection number to call.</p>

@karolherbst I'm definitely intersted in this, have a Razor Core X #eGPU case and a USB4 capable laptop.
Connecting it / switching / the lack of hotplugging is a bit inconvenient. Especially as it's easy to mess up your connection with these short USB-C cables.

Second issue I was experiencing: The #AMD / #ATI driver seems to do a bad job at swapping between VRAM and RAM (GTT usage). As soon as a game/app allocates >8GB on my 6650 XT things get terribly slow with an eGPU. spinics.net/lists/amd-gfx/msg9

www.spinics.netNo GTT->VRAM unswapping with amdgpu? — Linux AMD GFXAMD GFX: No GTT->VRAM unswapping with amdgpu?

In Jun 2020, I filed identical access-to-information requests to a dozen fed depts, asking each how #ATI shops had been told to adjust in a time of pandemic lockdowns. Dept of Finance replied in 31 days. Canada Revenue Agency just got back to me - 1,237 days later. #cdnpoli

So this ATI Radeon 9000 Pro card is of the type made by Sapphire for PCs, it seems. It doesn't have the SF-MF switch that Mac firmware sites talk about. Moving the NTSC-PAL switch makes no difference (nor removing the jumper).

I get scrambled video on the PowerMac G4 with the PPC ROM applied, and can't see any obvious way to change this.

Does anyone know what might be needed to change on this card to make it work with the Mac?

Have I ever told you one of my favourite political-actions is to file Freedom of Information/Access To Information requests and then riff on the results? It's good times.

I just got notification that my most recent FOI will be proceeding. It was hung up as the Office determined whether I was worthy of having the fees (~$100) waved. It looks like they might wave them. I'll know shortly and should have a response to my request, or more likely, a request to extend their search time, in the next 30 days.
