Saturday projects:

We now have a 2.55 watt output Full Duplex UHF Pi-Star (DMR) Hotspot driven by a "Broadband 1-930 MHz 2w eBay Amp"

Having to run a -10dB attenuator (since the mmdvm outputs 10mw) to not blow up the amp since it only needs 1mw to run it

Hopefully driving the amp with 13.8v won't hurt it too much because it's only meant to be driven with 12v 👀 ...(Just a little spicy given it's output power heh :blobcat_thisisfine: )

Going to have to take a walk later on and see what it's range is like now :blobcatcheer2:

I have an idea for an #AmateurRadio #Satellite
160m/80m linear SSB.

Given how so many of our antennas on that band are low enough to the ground that they send most of their signal straight up anyway, it should be easy to hit it.

With fairly small weights @ the ends of thin wires, a slow spin & centripetal force would keep them stretched out in a big + arrangement.

Today my #GMRS group participated in a #LarimerCounty emergency communications drill.

We ran a net on our repeater with simulated road updates and a medical emergency. Our #ham operators passed traffic to the EOC and back.

There were several neighborhood groups participating but I believe we were the only GMRS. Our weekly practice net really helps it go smoothly.

Ok for real I’m going to go through more boxes and find my old HT so I can practice both sides.

Greetings Elmers! Seeking advice on buck converters.

I ordered a QRP Labs QMX. For this model, they are extremely specific that it must not be powered by more than 12V. This means a LiFePo4 battery is out. Unless of course I put a buck converter inline to ensure only 12V goes to the QMX. Since it's a QRP radio, it consumes roughly 1A max current.

Any advice on what buck converter options make the most sense here?
