@aSweetGentleman It looks like the signatories on a letter opposing Donald Trump’s interference in higher education are mostly presidents of private institutions, which is unsurprising. Unless I overlooked other schools, Saint Edward’s University in Austin is the only Texas college or university on the list. #Austin #Texas
Usual #gammons on FB blaming #youths and #immigrants, but this #crime seems more likely to be jealous older man - youths are unlikely to know what an #Austin #Maestro is (nor security vulnerabilities of #1980s #cars) unless into retro cars (and would have more respect) - any immigrant who remembers it is likely older and law-abiding. it's also difficult to motivate people using pure doom and gloom. Activism and action without considering our own happiness leads to burnout.
Since 2021, Becky Bullard has been encouraging playfulness, a spirit of mysticism and even sexiness in political action through Democrasexy, the organization she founded. Her first event was a "Texorcism," a gathering to symbolically "cast out the demons" at the Texas Capitol whovhad brought on the state's six-week abortion ban.
"We all dressed like witches. I had drag performers. We had a panel on abortion rights and a tarot reading for Texas," Becky told me.

That house explosion in northwest Austin this morning shook our house over 15 miles away. Honestly, thought at the time it was an earthquake, but nothing was coming in on the quake monitoring.
I'm pretty sure I found the house on Google maps, and it wasn't a small structure. Completely obliterated. Here's some interesting drone footage of the aftermath:
