Three days of #jiujitsu in a row at three different gyms. Paying super close attention to nutrition, inflammation and recovery and feeling pretty good.

Also re-committing to my sports psychology confidence course. When I let those tools lapse is when things go the wrong way.

Have anyone tried practising aikido-kind (or similar) techniques against kickboxing (or any street style fighting) punches and kicks?
especially the real speed punches?
incl. series of punches?

it sounds like extremely interesting "don´t try this at home" thing to do 😂😂

do people practise someting like this? especially here in Finland?
(without going down on the floor for bjj or at least without choking)

So there's six months or so until the promotion cycle where I *could* get my black belt. My intention right now is to ramp up my training until then. I've got so much training data that *should* be able to direct my training intensity and volume...let's see how this goes. If my metrics indicate I'm good to train, I'll train. If they indicate rest, I'll rest.

Yes, we know the younger one's #BJJ gym has a bunch of folks we'd otherwise choose NOT to interact with.

No, she's not going to quit a thing that's become a big part of her life just because "those guys" do it too.

*THAT'S HOW THEY WIN*

(Plus this way she sometimes gets to choke one. 😈)

There's a lot going on right now - don't let it keep you from living your life.

i sure hate the gi. this is the most enthusiastic i look in any picture the coach took last night. i rarely attend gi class but a buddy showed up so i visited. it's a shame, too, because i'm better at gi than no gi. #bjj

It's funny how people outside aikido talk about whether #aikido techniques work or not, and commence to discuss wrist locks. Wrist targeting techniques (and body through them) count 3 out of 20 techniques I can immediately name (each with multiple variations). On top of that there's the variety of kokyunages and also close to 30 named attacks.

That's about 15% of all the techniques, and <10% of curriculum. And still #MMA and #BJJ people discuss effectiveness of aikido through wrist locks.

Drilling my favorite counter to an underhook during standup. Some kind of Greco head & arm sacrifice throw, don't know what it's called. Best to only hit this on blue belts and up due to possibility of neck injury if they don't roll with it.
