I haven't read all of #GlenCook's #BlackCompany #books by a long shot, but I found the first storyline in particular to be groundbreaking #darkfantasy. For me, the #Bridgeburners were just a lousy copy, so I cancelled the overhyped #Malazan series for this reason, among others. #booksky #fantasy

No idea when the #BlackCompany #ttrpg will be released or whether it will be any good. I find one or two things in the #DeltaGreen environment difficult. Nevertheless, this project is one of the most exciting role-playing projects at the moment, both thematically & systemically. I’m curious.

General question: if you were considering running a play by email game of Glen Cook's _Black Company_ series designed to replace the Books of the South, what would you use as a game engine?

I know Green Ronin did a d20 adaptation but it's wildly out of print, and I'm not sure how well d20 translates to the grittier action of the books.

I'm 8 chapters into CL Clark's engrossing fantasy political novel that is equal parts #Malazan or #BlackCompany mixed with any #Dumas adventure.

I'm not far enough in to make a more thorough determination, but so far it is a great read.
