A small (for its type) lizard basking in the hot sun at the front of my house. It's either a blue tongue or a pink tongue - related but different. I can only tell which is which when I see the tongue! 😂 The pink tongue living out the back (posted before) is much lighter coloured, but we do get both types.

This one was only about 30cm tip to tip, so I'm guessing a juvenile. Adults are probably 40cm(?)

A coffee coloured lizard, with darker bands. A skink. Either a blue tongue or a pink tongue lizard. It's basking in a patch of sunlight, and appears to be using a rock as a pillow.

Come for a walk down my backyard. 😁Completely burnt by bushfire on 8 Nov 2019. We were evacuated. For us, this fire kicked off the infamous Black Summer of 2019/2020, when much of the state was alight for months.

2024 is the first year since that I've seen more than a few scattered boronia, but full recovery's a long way off yet. Smaller plants are taking longer to return.

A close up shot of a boronia floribunda in bloom. As I said yesterday, too bad you can't smell them. They are finally returning after being wiped out in the 8 Nov 2019 bushfire (kicking off Black Summer for us)
Grevillea Sericea, the pink spider flower. I'd describe it as more purple than pink, but the flower shape is suggestive of spiders - lots of legs! The plants flat green leaves are also visible. The background is blurred green bushland.
Woollsia pungens, pink and white flowered form. It's a single hot dog shaped and sized stem, with pink and white flowers (they look pale yellow to me) all the way around. The prickly leaves behind belong to a lambertia formosa (mountain devil), then there's natural bush and blue sky.
Close up of a group of red drosera spatulata, a sundew. These small plants trap small insects in the sticky "dew" formed on the spiky looking parts of their leaves (zoom in), and digest them. Flower heads have risen above the leaves. Behind the drosera is green moss, also on the edge of a hanging swamp.

It was fun easy ride (20km at 18kph).
My groin pain was uncomfortable but not too bad. My lower back has now gone on strike.

There's a good chance I'm going to regret the decision in the hours and days to come, but I needed to get out of the house and spin my legs ... and I got to see a #bluetongue #skink ( #lizard ) on a bicycle (sign)

Having my two granddaughters to stay involves clearing my weights, step, yoga mat, bands etc out of the spare room. Pulling the trundle bed out from under the spare bed, folding out the legs & making the bed. We went out for Thai last night because Fridays are busy for me generally & I didn’t want to cook 😁. We did shopping today & I took them home after lunch. It was a lot of fun having them but boy is it tiring. Now I have to do the reverse to get my spare room back to what it was. Just sat down for a cuppa (which I think may just change to wine by dinner time) & spotted this 👇🏼on my back porch. The girls will be disappointed to have missed it. & isn’t it a beauty! #BlueTongue #Lizard #Summer #WarmingUp #Grandkids

Have to say - I’m pooped!

Lovely blue tongue lizard on my back porch today. Lizard is laying on garden pavers just beside a large planter. You can see grass to the left of the planter.
