Finishing off #brainawarenessweek with this screen print I designed for @lok_zine a few years ago - it has been hanging in my studio ever since and it makes me so happy. I hope I can find the time to do more of this work!

For #BrainAwarenessWeek I’m sharing my brainiest #SciArt #embroidery pieces. Here’s woman in skull (2016), not a brain per se, but the part of the skull where the brain sits, imagined as an architectural space.
Today, for #BrainAwarenessWeek I want to share this brainy map commissioned by The Brain Observatory for last Summer's Brain Explorer Camp.
If you pass by San Diego, make sure to check out this little hidden gem of a museum: www.thebrainobservatory.org
For #BrainAwarenessWeek I’m sharing my brainiest #SciArt #embroidery pieces. Here’s neuraesthenia (2017), a piece depicting the heaviness I feel during post-exertional malaise (PEM). PEM often starts in my cognition then spreads out through my body.
Hola Titánicos, cada tercera semana de marzo se celebra la Semana Mundial del Cerebro, concienciando acerca de la importancia de la salud cerebral.
For #BrainAwarenessWeek I’m sharing my brainiest #SciArt #embroidery pieces. Here’s a detail from the wandering ghost (2024), my piece about the vagus nerve and my experiences with polyvagal theory.
You can read more about this piece here: https://liapas.com/2024/10/15/the-wandering-ghost/
It's Brain Awareness Week. Take care of yours!
Wear a mask (COVID has implications -- bad ones -- for brain health. Get sleep (sleep rids the brain of gunk -- the vox technica - that accumulates in it). Get hearing aids if you're experiencing age-related hearing loss. Take your SSRI if you're on one (depression isn't good for the brain). Stay engaged w/ people (connected with friends; meet new ones @ #Tesla protests).

Happy Brain Awareness Week!
Caroline Montojo, president of the Dana Foundation, kicks off the 30th anniversary of this educational campaign to inspire excitement and support for brain science.
A huge thank you to the hundreds of organizers worldwide bringing special events to their communities this week and beyond! #BrainAwarenessWeek #BrainWeek #ScienceOutreach
A Brain Awareness Week grant from #FENS or #IBRO supports organizers dedicated to neuroscience outreach and education in their local communities. Both organizations are currently accepting applications for the 2025 Brain Awareness Week campaign, which will mark its 30th year! Learn more about these grants and apply.

Applications are now being accepted for IBRO/Dana Brain Awareness Week grants! Funding supports activities that build awareness of the significant and positive impact of brain science on our daily lives. Grantees will receive up to 1250 USD for their outreach efforts. It's #BrainAwarenessWeek. Here is an image of the three different #variants of #PrimaryProgressiveAphasia. Where the
#brain is hit will determine the kind of #aphasia and what that will sound like when the person with #PPA speaks. My father, who had #early-onset #Alzheimers had the #logopenic variant.
It's #BrainAwarenessWeek. Here is an image of the #brain that appears in the #memoir I wrote with #UCSF #neurologist, #Dr.BruceMiller. We included images like this in Finding the Right Words so families would know some of the geography of the #brain, and the words used to designate parts of the brain (there are so many), before going into the #doctor's office. There is also a glossary at the end of the book that defines the words. We hope readers find this helpful.
It's #BrainAwarenessWeek & one of the activities that's good for your #brain is reading. Here are some book recommendations. What would you suggest?
#PattiSmith, Just Kids
#MatJohnson, Pym
#JoanDidion, The Year of Magical Thinking
#KaitlynGreenidge, Libertie
#JasonMott, Hell of a Book
#JuliaMayJonas, Vladimir
#DashaKiper, Travelers to Unimaginable Lands: Stories of #Dementia, The #Caregiver, and the Human Brain
#PercivalEverett, The Trees
#rachelyoder, Nightbitch

Brian Lawlor, Prof. of Old Age Psychiatry @ #TrinityCollege #Dublin wrote this about my #memoir w/#Dr.BruceMiller: "In Finding the Right Words, Weinstein & Miller succeed in merging science, literature, and great storytelling to help us understand what happens to the person and the brain in Alzheimer's disease. A must-read for all who believe we must break down the silos between science and the humanities to fully appreciate what it means to live with Alzheimer's disease."
It is #BrainAwarenessWeek.
#neurologist Jeffrey Cummings said this about the #memoir I wrote with #Dr.BruceMiller: "A book that brings humanity and science together is rare, but Finding the Right Words achieves this seamlessly and elegantly. Biography, diagnosis, history of behavioral neurology, and a daughter's love converge to produce a deep understanding of how brain disease affects personhood. Read this book to understand how your brain creates your self."
It's #BrainAwarenessWeek and we're featuring just a few of the neuroscience datasets available to access and use for free from Dryad, like the data from this study on the neural mechanisms underlying increasing cognitive load while walking https://buff.ly/4cc4tcb
