It doesn't matter if it's a western or a xianxia; when the bartender* makes _that_ face you know someone's screwed up Royally.

And I finally found a beginner project for my own nef... completely normal needs! That brush hanger down right is perfect! It'll be a worthy place for my da maobi with a story I'll tell you some other day.

The innkeeper standing frozen behind his desk, eyes wide open as he looks to the right contemplating if he should do something about the bully running away screaming like a little boy. The brushhanger on his desk is a simple crossbar with two feet, and the bar does have tiny foxes' or dragons' heads at its ends.

This is rare! I guess this is Tanghua's room, and it's cosy; warm wooden tones, a bed with fluffy covers (but in a _manly_ way, of course), and those wall hangings really seal the deal! Normally interiors in C-dramas verge on grandness, sometimes to the point that they look impractical. But this room is perfectly liveable - I'd even stay there if I was allowed to bring a thicker matress.

Also: IKEA hack at one o' clock.

Tanghua working at a drawing in his room. The room has wooden floor and walls, wicker chests are placed along one of them, and the bed is placed at the opposite one. True to Chinese custom the matress is less than one inch thick and hardly visible under a bedthrow made out of fur. Three multicoloured wallhangings are visible, woven with geometrical flowers and other simple patterns. The wall mounted shelves are hold up by SANDSHULT shelf bracket stained with walnut wood stain.

*sniffle!* I love when the storyboarder picks it up a notch or three! I'm trying to not be spoilerish, but in ep10 there's a sequence they really get to have fun. Will I yoink... _use this as inspiration_? Maybe. Given the chance I'll also track down their name and give a proper reference. Maybe an overkill, but I like doing that kind of stuff.

Ooooooooooh! Big badaboooooom!

I look for more in a story, and - even if you find it unlikely* - like @liztai I fancy when it's underpinned by philosophical discussions. But as a storyteller I watch out for those moments that go straight to your inner child and make their eyes grow wide with wonder. Mastering those are one of the most important pillars of storytelling.

(*I certainly do, I think of myself as and action and explosions type)

Just finished watching “The Best Thing” with Zhang Linghe and Xu Ruohan 🌸 After some dramas with much angst and tragic endings, this drama is a breath of fresh air. It is not deep but very comforting. Two people fall in love and navigate the dilemmas of modern life in a mature and well-behaved manner. Their wedding is sweet and the side couples are promised a happy future, too.
