"Drax will keep raising carbon emission levels until 2050s, study says"

Really?! [ShockedPikachuFace.jpg]

TL;DR the study says that carbon capture technology, if it existed and they used it, still wouldn't outweigh the damage Drax will do by operating until 2050.

Some news for those interested in #shipping:

The #cimatecrisis linked droughts across the world have now limited the capacity of the #panamacanal ... a route used because its cheap & efficient for the America's #supplychains.

You're going to see a lot more of this in the next few years... (and off course we've already seen the capacity impact on river shipping in #Germnay - see toot from a couple of weeks ago)

Well, I think we can be sure that once again delaying action(s) on the #cimatecrisis isn't it.

While currently we're 'fiddling while Rhodes burns' ir won't be long before we're 'fiddling while Richmond burns'!

Inaction now merely hastens along the climate disaster heading down the track towards us!

...and as a postscript on my last post on the obscene subsidies, income and profits for the #fossilfuels industry this new research in Nature Energy suggests the current soaring energy prices triggered by the war in Ukraine but compounded by our reliance on #fossilfuels could drive 141 million people into extreme poverty globally - see story in the Guardian and link to research therein on:
