Fujimaru Yoshino _Yoshino Fujimal_ JP Warner Music 1982, 2024 reissue
Fujimaru Yoshino (芳野恭郎) was in various bands and doing session work throughout the 1970s until he joined the Casey Rankin led Shogun in 1978 and had some mainstream success. After disappointing sales of their 1980 album, the band went their separate ways. Fujimaru recorded his first solo record for Moon Records. He was also in the jazz influenced AB's during the same period.
I think the reason people gravitate and love Mariya Takeuchi's Plastic Love is because it is the epitome of Analog recording combined with the cleanest studio work on record (pun unintended).
Then you have the people who understand the lyrics and you can see how it has lasted for over forty years. The poppy tune paired with the sad alienation depicted in the lyrics is perennial.
