Alameda Post<p>On July 12, Rhythmix presented the third of four installments of their Rising Seas series. "These free public art performances included global music, immersive dance, and site-responsive theater centered on the theme of climate change and our relationship to water," writes Kelly Rogers Flynt. <a href="https://alamedapost.com/features/arts/rhythmix-rising-seas-delivers-both-warnings-inspiration/" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">alamedapost.com/features/arts/</span><span class="invisible">rhythmix-rising-seas-delivers-both-warnings-inspiration/</span></a></p><p><a href="https://newsie.social/tags/CityOfAlameda" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>CityOfAlameda</span></a> <a href="https://newsie.social/tags/CommunityActionForASustainableAlameda" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>CommunityActionForASustainableAlameda</span></a> <a href="https://newsie.social/tags/EastBayRegionalParkDistrict" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>EastBayRegionalParkDistrict</span></a> <a href="https://newsie.social/tags/MarilynEzzyAshcraft" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>MarilynEzzyAshcraft</span></a> <a href="https://newsie.social/tags/performance" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>performance</span></a> <a href="https://newsie.social/tags/RhythmixCulturalWorks" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RhythmixCulturalWorks</span></a> <a href="https://newsie.social/tags/RisingSeas" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RisingSeas</span></a></p>
Alameda Post<p>Small, iconic, and endangered, California least terns return every year to Alameda. In the early 1970s, the NAS Alameda base commander’s wife noticed and protected about 10 pairs of birds. In 2024, over 500 nests were recorded. Sharol Nelson-Embry tells their story with photos by Rick Lewis. <a href="https://alamedapost.com/features/nature/31-yearsf-return-terns-bus-tours-alameda/" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">alamedapost.com/features/natur</span><span class="invisible">e/31-yearsf-return-terns-bus-tours-alameda/</span></a></p><p><a href="https://newsie.social/tags/alameda" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>alameda</span></a> <a href="https://newsie.social/tags/AlamedaPoint" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AlamedaPoint</span></a> <a href="https://newsie.social/tags/birding" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>birding</span></a> <a href="https://newsie.social/tags/birdwatching" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>birdwatching</span></a> <a href="https://newsie.social/tags/CaliforniaLeastTern" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>CaliforniaLeastTern</span></a> <a href="https://newsie.social/tags/CrabCove" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>CrabCove</span></a> <a href="https://newsie.social/tags/EastBayRegionalParkDistrict" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>EastBayRegionalParkDistrict</span></a> <a href="https://newsie.social/tags/ebrpd" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ebrpd</span></a> <a href="https://newsie.social/tags/FriendsOfTheAlamedaWildlifeReserve" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FriendsOfTheAlamedaWildlifeReserve</span></a></p>

Thomas Brightbill<p>Quick ride this Sunday afternoon.</p><p>I've spent the last 3 days dealing with some pretty challenging issues. Sunday started off sunny in my part of the <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/EastBay" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>EastBay</span></a> but later in the day the clouds started rolling in. By about 4 p.m. the clouds were really rolling in and I knew that daylight would be fading soon so I grabbed the <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/eBike" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>eBike</span></a> and headed for a short loop often I ride which goes through <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/DiabloFoothills" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>DiabloFoothills</span></a> park and <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/BorgesRanch" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BorgesRanch</span></a>.</p><p>I absolutely love the shades of <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/green" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>green</span></a> we get this time of year in this part of California! It's a little hard to see in this photo, but the oak trees are getting new growth which has its own shade of green, distinct from the grass and the old oak leaves.</p><p><a href="https://sfba.social/tags/EastBayRegionalParkDistrict" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>EastBayRegionalParkDistrict</span></a> <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/EBRPD" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>EBRPD</span></a> <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/WalnutCreek" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>WalnutCreek</span></a> <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/MTB" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>MTB</span></a></p>
Thomas Brightbill<p>Monday Morning Bike Ride (or "Mt Diablo and the Foothills are Turning Brown")</p><p>I stopped at this spot and all I could hear were birds chirping and the occasional jet rumbling overhead at 15,000 feet. I lingered for 5 or 10 minutes.</p><p>The word that came to mind was "restorative."</p><p><a href="https://sfba.social/tags/MtDiablo" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>MtDiablo</span></a> <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/EastBay" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>EastBay</span></a> <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/MTB" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>MTB</span></a> <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/EastBayRegionalParkDistrict" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>EastBayRegionalParkDistrict</span></a> <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/EBRPD" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>EBRPD</span></a> <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/DiabloFoothills" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>DiabloFoothills</span></a></p>
