This weekend I played @ashcheshire and @GlaiveGuisarme's Magical Repair Shop, which has been on my list for quite a while! It was a cozy, convivial time filled with delightful magical mishaps. Such a wonderful job adapting Firebrands to a gentle, collaborative tone
I watched The Man from UNCLE the other day, and my brain has been absolutely on fire about rival spies ever since. Is there a spy vs spy (vs spy) Firebrands game out there yet, or do I need to write it?
Some of the advice I've gotten for playing Firebrands:
- It works better if you lean into self-indulgence and the tropes you want to see
- Treat it like the middle chapter or random episode of a story

Since the last time I posted about it, I've played one "fine but shallow" one-shot, wrapped a 4-session game that I loved, and am about to wrap another few-shot I adore
I wish Firebrands had its own moniker for games in that format, in the vein of "Powered by the Apocalypse," "Descended from the Queen," "Rooted in Trophy," etc. It's most common to call them "Firebrands hacks," and while I know "hack" isn't/wasn't considered derogatory by the indie ttrpg community, it still feels like it belittles the derivative work
25) Unplayed #TTRPG owned
So many. I have over 75 games in print on my RPG shelf that I still haven't tried, and hundreds of unplayed games on PDF from various game bundles.
But that's not going to stop me from buying more.
Planning to finally try out two games in September: Mobile Frame Zero: Firebrands, and Alien RPG.
