スラくジムンダール<p>This was a super welcome surprise today: there's a <a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/HumbleBundle" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>HumbleBundle</span></a> with almost the entire <a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/EarthDefenseForce" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>EarthDefenseForce</span></a> franchise except for the newest game Earth Defense Force 6. This is probably my favorite game franchise in recent years.</p><p>$25 gets you <a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/Steam" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Steam</span></a> keys EDF 4.1 and just about all of its DLC, EDF 5, EDF Iron Rain, EDF World Brothers and World Brothers 2. That's like 90% off or something, I don't do math. Scribblemacher<p>I sold off a bunch of older games and am considering what to use the proceeds for. Obviously I'm not going to do something responsible with it. Deciding between:</p><p><a href="https://mstdn.games/tags/GameBoyLight" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>GameBoyLight</span></a>: Always wanted one. I actually use my GBC next to a lamp all the time, so I would actually use this; not just some weird display thing!</p><p><a href="https://mstdn.games/tags/3DS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>3DS</span></a> or <a href="https://mstdn.games/tags/3DSXL" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>3DSXL</span></a>: The kids have beat up the 2DS to the point of gore, so this would replace it (for me, not them--they can keep the toot-DS as they call it)</p><p><a href="https://mstdn.games/tags/PlayDate" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>PlayDate</span></a>: I'm probably the audience for this; the games on it are my kind of thing, no backlight is a selling point, and flipping through the dev docs, this looks like a great platform to work with. I'm hesitant due to the price and the seeming fragility of the hardware though. There's also probably more productive dev-related stuff I could be doing. (I set up the SDK and simulator months ago but haven't really touched it since). ScruffyBrush<p>1. <a href="https://meow.social/tags/Ufo50" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Ufo50</span></a> <br>Beaten : hell no<br>Playtime: 76h</p><p>50 bite sized NES-mimicking indie games in 1 for essentially less than a dollar per game<br>In a contest of scruffy's top 10 that's just unfair tbh</p><p>A really good variety of 2 button games, from metroidvania to JRPG to sports to deckbuilder to...<br>It's hard to go wrong with this one because you'll probably find at least one game that really speaks to you (unless you hate pixelart nostalgiabait)</p><p>Either try everything once like a pig then pick your favorites like I did, or be patient and play each until you wanna move on</p><p>Most of the games in the collection are clear love letters to genre defining titan games of old but add their own spin on them (Or just a novel game that dont lend itself well to a fuller scoped game and would overstay its welcome but is great in this bite sized NES era kind of format)</p><p>---<br>Gush and spoiler :<br>---<br>Replying to this post with my personal tier list spoilered so you can decide to first play it or not before checking out which of the 50 games I liked and recommend</p><p>Statwise though I'd estimate there's about 30 games I plan to beat or at least like on this collection</p><p><a href="https://meow.social/tags/gamerecommendations" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>gamerecommendations</span></a></p>

WildRikku<p>I just removed Cogen: Sword of Rewind from my wishlist due to the large amount of reviews saying it has random difficulty spikes and feels unfair, while at the same time being rather expensive for a very short game. Bummer. It looked really promising and fun.
