Made up the frame for the zippy greenhouse over the weekend. I need to get a new cover as I put the frame together so I could measure it. I managed to order one Sunday that getting delivered in the week. Also pictured is my new coldframe in grey. 3 shelves for putting potted plants in when hardening off as I move plants out of the zippy greenhouse. #zippygreenhouse #coldframe #gardening #gardeningmastodon #spring2025 #springgardening

Amazing! Here are the veggie plants that are still alive and kicking, having made it through multiple #PolarVortex with subzero temperatures this #winter in the #lowtunnel.
Okay, 7 heads of #garlic planted! I meant to plant them after Thanksgiving, then after Xmas, and then there was a blizzard after New Year's...you get the idea!
Manny Manchego is annoyed because Cream Cheese won't leave him alone. #CatsOfMastodon
I know I've been posting a lot about #yarn, #handspinning, and #dyeing #wool. It's #winter right now.
Rest assured I will turn back to #GardeningMastodon soon! It's almost time to sow #seeds!
And #lambing is coming up mid-March, too. So, I will be talking more about that as it gets closer. #SheepOfMastodon
I recommend you have a #garden this year, for sure.
Harvested the last few remaining chinese cabbages from the #lowtunnel and now I feel like I have frostbite in my hands. Very painful! It's cold out there at 25°F feels like 13°F with the wind.
The condensation on the inside of the 6 mil poly is frozen in the most beautiful designs. It felt above freezing inside the tunnel. I left one cabbage in there as an experiment to see how it fares...
I harvested about a 1/3 of the #lowtunnel today. Need to decide what to do with the rest of what's in there before the #PolarVortex hits!
Also, got the first of the #eggs! I think the #moult is over, but I'm worried the weather will cause the #hens to stop laying again?
Found a great channel on Youtube for gardening called GrowVeg. It a comprehensive but not confusing guide to growing your own food successfully. Here's a link to a video about crops you can start in January! Check it out!

Starting to slowly #harvest the #lowtunnel. The collards were small to medium-sized. They really need a couple more weeks...
Update on the #LowTunnel #Garden: everything is getting a little bigger. Still harvesting bok choy. The jury is out on whether the broccoli will produce heads or not...
Opened up the #lowtunnel to water it yesterday. Everything is growing well, albeit slow. Little to no pests. We've been eating a lot of bok choy.
I knew there was going to come a time where my #gardening would seriously be important and money-saving. It's sooner than I thought...
Working my way through #covid19 Yep I was fully #vaxxed got it anyway. And it wasn't the least bit mild. 3 days of fever over #102. Today 5th just feels like a chest cold. But as any good #gardener would when expecting a week of rain. And having sprouting bulbs arrive monday. I went out and planted over 200 #bulbs on my hands and knees. Mixed #crocus , #iris reticulata Harmony, grape #hyacinth, PurpIe Emperor #allium , and #snowflakes. Still to plant are blue shades #anemone blanda and a few species tulips.
And also two colors of bachelor button seeds.
I note grass and #lupines coming up in the #fieldofdreams #wildlowermeadow #gardening #GardeningMastodon @gardening
