Just saw the first episode of Dark Money Games. The story of corruption in the Ohio legislature and the cynical manipulation of Ohio voters is worthy of the film noir narrative contained in the descriptions by FBI and prosecutors of Speaker Householder, Borges and Clark. Jane Mayer produced and appears in the film.

"The Pitt" — a critically acclaimed medical drama starring Noah Wyle, but not that one — finished its 15-episode first season last week. Pop Heist's Matthew Jackson unpacks its appeal. "This is, arguably more than any other streaming series out there right now, a show that thrives on the classic serialized TV model — and it works so well that every other TV creator out there should sit up and take note," he writes.

I'm watching this docuseries on HBO called Telemarketers, but it really buries the lede.

It's actually about police union corruption, how police unions hire ex-con telemarketers who can't get jobs elsewhere to use the names of officers killed or injured in the line of duty without compensation to scam money out of old ladies' social security checks to pay for political protection to run amok in society, and how those same call centers also run scam PACs.

Only the first episode is about telemarketers.

"Police State" is not an exaggeration.
