But after the initial burst of enthusiasm, I think most of them have given up. Their posts got no visibility, nobody from the larger #Fediverse interacted with them, so they moved on to other platforms.
These are the insidious effects of the Fediverse invisiblizing the #GlobalSouth.

I forgot to mention:
is an instance “for activists and Palestinians to connect and amplify their efforts for the liberation of Palestine”.
I believe many Palestinians and their allies had flocked to this instance.

If you get the chance I would recommend you watch this documentary. It is harrowing (I saw a preview). It captures some of the wider European complicity in the Holocaust (with some honorable exceptions).
Watch it and remember, the murder and the inhumanity documented here should not be allowed to continue - whether it be Rwanda (I was working there in 1994), or Gaza now. There is no excuse.

If you can bear it, go read this long piece by Taffy Brodesser-Akner.

... "The #Holocaust was motivated by #racism, #nationalism and #capitalism, as much as it was motivated by religious persecution. Anti-Jewish hate was not the driving force, but the tool wielded by power- wealth- and land-hungry elites. Just as anti-Muslim and anti-Arab hate are tools wielded by power- wealth- and land-hungry elites in Israel and the US today."
It's 2025 and this is where we are...
#Israel forces the cancellation of a speech by Prof. Omri Boehm at the 80th anniversary of the liberation of #Buchenwald, because they say that "Boehm 'dilutes the memory of the Holocaust with his discourse on universal human values.''
Boehm is the grandson of a #Holocaust survivor and speaks of the relationship of the Nakba to the Holocaust.

While Netanyahu whitewashes #Hungary's role in murdering 400,000 Jews to build alliances with #Orbán, #Israel's embassy blocks philosopher Omri Boehm from speaking at #Buchenwald.
The grandson of a Holocaust survivor, Boehm was invited for his reflections on universal human rights and memory—yet labeled as "diluting" Holocaust memory for his views on Palestinian rights.
[…] The Israeli embassy said that "under the guise of science, Boehm is trying to dilute the memory of the Holocaust with his discourse on universal values, thereby depriving it of its historical and moral significance."

In UMass #Holocaust course, a student made a presentation about the fate of her grandparents. Although it was a lecture class, they were then visibly moved by video testimony from survivors of the Treblinka Sonderkommando, including the famous barbershop scene from Shoah.

What was my day like?
Hampshire College seminar students found it hard to find anything to say about 2 memoirs of the #Holocaust. They were moved but just didn't know how to articulate their reaction
Minor amusement: why is Primo Levi talking about beer (Lager) in Auschwitz?

Today In Labor History April 3, 1950: Composer Kurt Weill died. Weill’s most famous song was Mack the Knife ("Die Moritat von Mackie Messer"), which became a schlock classic after Bobby Darin’s rendition. However, Weill wrote the song as part of Bertolt Brecht’s “Three Penny Opera,” which was a socialist critique of the capitalist world. Weill was persecuted by the Nazis for his political views and his Jewish heritage. He fled to America, with his wife, singer Lotte Lenya. Some of Weill’s other well-known songs include: Alabama Song (covered by the Doors), Pirate Jenny (covered by Nina Simone), Mack the Knife (also covered by Louis Armstrong), Der Kleine des Lieben Gottes (covered by John Zorn).
