If someone told a disillusioned teenage Iryna that she would spend her International Women's day at a Ukrainian Studies Conference among incredibly accomplished women-academics, all while American government is actively erasing images of renown women off their websites, modern day me would probably be a lot further in my career.
Teenage Iryna was given flowers for March 8th and was asked to "continue sharing beauty with the world".
I was lucky to be born into a #matriarchal family. The women ran everything. They were the pillars of strength, the storytellers, the knowledge keepers, the healers, the mystics. When I first ran into the #patriarchal idea that men are somehow superior, I was baffled at how anyone could think that.
I'm grateful to all the women in my ancestry who blazed a trail for us today. May we continue to do so for all women. It's especially important now.

We nominate our local district Clifden Rural Women, they help a lot of people and groups in our area and have also been very helpful to us too, with some recent funding for history preservation materials and also providing volunteers and food for our community events. Thank you!
