"At the direction of President #Trump & Secretary Noem, we're done offering duplicate trainings that promote *waste*, *fraud* & *abuse* & that are not a good use of American taxpayers.”

The agency, which coordinates federal response to #NaturalDisasters, confirmed Hamilton was no longer serving as acting administrator. Many other senior leaders have been fired or decided to leave as FEMA faces an uncertain future.

On Tues, #DHS Secy #KristiNoem, whose agency includes #FEMA, testified before lawmakers that FEMA should be eliminated. Hamilton, appearing before #Congress on Wed, said instead that FEMA “must return to its roots,” helping state & local govts respond to disasters.

So, I play a lot of #ScrabbleGo . An unhealthy amount, probably, but that isn't what I'm writing for. Starting yesterday, the ever-present and usually completely ignorable #ads were at least 50% replaced by #DHS ads featuring #KristiNoem in poorly dubbed #Spanish, telling people to #SelfDeport. As obscenely evil as this is, being directed at #DocumentedImmigrants as much as #Undocumented, I took pleasure in the stupid waste of money it is. How many blue collar #Latine immigrants play #Scrabble ?

Judge Chen said #KristiNoem's actions appear to have been predicated on "negative stereotypes" by insinuating the migrants were criminals. "Generalization of criminality to the #Venezuelan #TPS population as a whole is baseless & smacks of #racism predicated on generalized false #stereotypes," Chen wrote, adding that Venezuelan TPS holders were more likely to hold bachelor's degrees than American citizens & less likely to commit crimes than the general US population. 👏

The #Trump admin today, May 1, asked #SCOTUS to allow it to strip temporary protected status [#TPS] from >300,000 #Venezuelan migrants, a move that would clear the way for their #deportation. The #DOJ asked the justices to put on hold US District Judge Edward Chen's order that halted #DHS Secy #KristiNoem's decision to terminate the temporary #legal status that previously was granted to some #Venezuelans by President Joe #Biden's admin.
